Seven-Day Outlooks

The 2011/12 heat load forecasting season has ended.

The regional seven-day outlooks are no longer being up-dated. The outlooks will return, for the 2012/13 heat load forecasting season, in the first week of October 2012.

During the forecasting season a seven-day outlook is provided for the regions highlighted on this map. The regions have been selected by our Meteorologist as having similar weather patterns and for the density of feedlots in the area.

  • Eastern and Central NSW
  • Southeast Queensland
  • Central Queensland
  • Coastal Tropical Queensland
  • Darwin-Daly, Northern Territory
  • Southwest Western Australia
  • Southeast South Australia
  • Victoria
  • Western Tasmania

In the 2012/13 season we plan to continue issuing the seven-day outlook on Tuesdays and Fridays, with additional outlooks and amendments published on an as-required basis. The outlooks will provide an overview of broad-scale weather developments during the week and indicate any impact that the developments may have on a regions HLI. It is designed to provide early indication of the potential for high heat load events and should be used in conjunction with the four-day major town and site specific forecasts. Due to the long forecast period and the nature of the weather events in general, the seven-day outlook has an inherent degree of uncertainty, particularly towards the end of the outlook period. We at Katestone Environmental are working to establish firm links between high heat load events and Australia’s regional and synoptic weather regimes, to better serve the meat and livestock industry.

It is important to note that Katestone Environmental does not provide weather warnings. During severe weather events or in emergency situations please consult the Australian Bureau of Meteorology Weather and Warnings page for the latest weather and warning information for your region.
